Highway tree inspections; what is the standard of the duty of care?
A recent Freedom of Information request to all the highway authorities in the UK asked about tree risk management strategies, tree inspection protocols, and training programmes. It highlighted that some highway authorities have no proactive tree inspection regimes in place and identified driven inspections as an area of confusion. All highway authorities have until October 2018 to comply with government guidance and it will be interesting to see how many manage to do so!
